I recently caught the "detecting" bug from my son in law.....after seeing him find some really interesting Civil War era items with his White's detector, I purchased a used Spectrum XLT. Just about my first time out I was finding Civil War goodies too! The XLT was my first detector but I found it easy to use . I have found over a dozen Civil War bullets and several uniform buttons with my XLT. My most interesting find is a Civil War canteen spout with the word "Maxwell" carved into it. I didn't really know what "Maxwell" was until my daughter (who is a librarian) did some research and found there was a confederate soldier named William Maxwell that was in this area during the Civil War.

She actually found letters that listed the soldiers names and showed that "William Maxwell" was in our area in a winter camp. I have since read and learned more on the Civil War than I did while I was in school!

I have just bought a new MXT and my new hunting partner (my wife of 27 years) has taken over the XLT as she has also caught the "bug"! Now we spend all our free time together - detecting! Thanks White's for your fine detectors and helping us "dig up" history!
