Dear White's,

During Thanksgiving weekend, we traveled to Tennessee to do some relic hunting during the downtime of the holiday. The location we went to is actually my parent-in-law's property and I'd found numerous Civil War finds there before. I took along my recently purchased White's XLT and my White's 120mm Pinpointer for the hunt.

On the first day of hunting, I was lucky enough to find 2 Eagle General Service Buttons, both of which were about 5-6 inches in depth. One of the buttons has a root that has grew through the shank of the button. Pretty unique find.

The next day, November 24th, I woke up early and went outside at sun rise. There was still frost on the ground from the previous night. I start scanning an area near a very old Cedar Tree. My first target rang in +80-+87 on the XLT's VDI. After pinpointing it with the machine, I started to dig my hole. The machine had said it was about 4 inches down. Once I got to that depth, I checked the hole with my White's 120mm Pinpointer. The target was at the bottom of my hole, 4 inches down. I knew it had to be something good! After digging around the target, I slid my digger underneath it, and it popped right out of the hole. I picked up the piece of metal, and it just happen to be a C.S.A. Belt Plate with all 3 hooks still intact on the back of the plate.

After doing a little research on the plate and finding out just how rare it is, we looked back over our research for the area that the in-laws live on. On November 24th, 1863, there was a skirmish at this exact property. I just happened to find it on the same day, 143 years later.

My BEST find ever! You can't beat a White's detector!
