Dear Whites,
I wanted to take a moment and share with you a find that I made last weekend while
searching an old home site in Southern New Hampshire. I'd only worked the property
about a half hour when I got a 50cent reading at 7.5 inches on my XLT. After digging
the plug I saw a greenish disk sitting at the bottom of the hole. I've dug a fare
share of George Coppers and Large Cents in this area, but every time I dig one, I get
just as excited as the first!
After lightly cleaning the dirt away I stood there with my mouth wide open...saying
out loud "no way....NO WAY"!!! This is my first 1795 Liberty Cap Cent, and my only
from that series....still can't believe it! She's a little worn and porous...but in
great shape for being in the ground for 200 years!
She's of the smooth edge variety and still has nice detail on most of the coin...but
the date is tough to read without a magnifying glass...still a great addition to my
collection!
Thanks to Whites for putting out such terrific machines!
Sincerely,
Hank E.
