Hello White's Metal detecting friends,

I was out metal detecting last year in an 1850's old hospital (which has been used for the county) I got a bang on my MXT at 8 inches, it hit loud and hard a must dig!! I came up with a brooch which looked like costume jewelry, so I put it aside and kept going thinking that it was just nothing of value.

I have been detecting for about 5 years and have found plenty of coins, rings and such. Well this winter I started cleaning my finds and low and behold it says Tiffany and Co. on the back of this brooch!!!! I then took it to a local jeweler to get an appraisal on it, after about three days and 10 jewelers that couldn't give me a value. One jeweler suggests taking it to Christies in NYC. I sent a picture and received an appointment to have it looked at. It was a one of a kind brooch made by Louis Comfort Tiffany (the founder's son). It goes to auction in June the estimate that is given is $15000 Whoa!!!!

Thanks,

Jim (NY)

P.S. I sold the brooch at Christies NY for $17,000!!!!!!
