Dear White's Electronics,

I have not had a chance to use my XLT for over a year now. Sunday I was at my local Lowes store in the self checkout line. I overheard a woman ask a manager if they sold metal detectors. I turned around to see a woman with her tearful daughter. Of course the manager acknowledged that they did not sell detectors so I mentioned that it was my hobby and asked if I could help.

It turns out, they were raking leaves and as they finished, the daughter noticed that her rings were missing. They dumped the bags of leaves on the patio and eventually found one of her two rings. Unfortunately, they could not find a ring given to her by her deceased grandmother. I volunteered to come over and help, but it had gotten dark so I suggested we try after work on Monday.

I arrived as arranged and was shown the bags of leaves and the corner of the yard they came from. I first scanned the bags and found nothing. Next, I started working the yard and within 10 minutes the screen showed a ring and it was right on top of the ground. They tried to pay me and I refused because my reward was their excitement and my rekindled desire to get out and work out with my beloved XLT.
