I was in a favorite field of mine near Kingston, NY. Finds were slow. I got a hit but it was one of those hits one way but not the other all over the screen, oops, now its disappeared hits. (I am sure you know what I mean) but since the finds were slow, I decided to dig it up anyway. The depth meter was pinned as far as it could go so I cut a 6 inch plug; it was a rather big plug at that. I stuck the coil in the hole and this time the hit was crisp and clear, Nickel 6 more inches. I kept digging and took about six more inches of dirt out of the hole.

Scanned it again and it was still in the hole. I took out my Bullseye II Pinpointer and stuck it in the hole. It started to vibrate. I used my finger and pried out this beautiful button. It is a U.S. Artillery button, c. 1808-21. I have to say that to get this depth from a button the size of a dime is very impressive. That is to say the least. I still can’t believe it. There is a lesson also to be learned from this. Just because the hit doesn’t start off the best, doesn’t mean you should pass it up. DIG EVERYTHING. Whites has made a great product. The Prizm V is at the top of its class.
