White's Electronics, I purchased my new MXT Pro and got to work starting to learn it in my yard. I went out there maybe twice, for a total of 2 hours. I knew just enough to feel comfortable enough to try a "real hunt" in the field. I researched for a while even before getting my MXT Pro on good old places to go. I found a story of an old forgotten picnic grove another treasure hunter had discovered on an old map. After quietly cleaning this site out over the course of months, this hunter truly made out with a small fortune in old coins and jewelry. He fully disclosed the site and his finds on an enthusiast’s blog site and it was truly "epic." I knew of the area and figured I'd give it a shot hoping for some beginner luck finding something he missed.... When I got into the over-grown wooded site I was really discouraged. There were literally open unfilled holes everywhere. Other hunters had read the same ad and came in and obliterated the site. At this point I decided this would be just some good practice. I never thought I would find a thing. Equipped with my new MXT Pro and 12" Super coil, I wandered around for 15 or 20 minutes trying to find an open space without thorns and poison ivy to start swinging away. I found a spot and literally, within 5 minutes, I got a real nice solid hit, VDI 88-92 about 10 inches down. I was still so green to even know enough to be excited. This was literally my first real target ever (my yard was baron), and I started digging. At 6 inches the hole flooded but the signal stayed solid (this site is almost level with a river, and it was a wet spring season to add to it...). I gave it a few more scoops with the digger but it was still down there. My bullseye pinpointer picked it up somewhere in the puddle so I reached in the muck and pulled it out. There it was in my hand.... big and golden and beautiful with gems and pearls looking back up at me. It was an incredible moment. Within 30 minutes of my first real hunt, I found an epic treasure, for me priceless... I've since logged well over 100 hours detecting and have dug everything from a large cent to gold rings. I have dug hundreds of targets but absolutely none that have sounded as sweet as that gold locket. I can still hear it clearly in my imagination. That find has had me hooked ever since. Cheers to White’s for making the best tools for the trade. Even a hunted out "mine field" filled with dozens of open holes still holds deep treasure for White's Hunters! Roman (NY) |
