Finally!!! I was out in the church yard today sweating in the heat. Swinging along the
sidewalk I was content finding a few wheaties with my new M-6. Well by now the sweat was running
in my eyes and I figured at the end of the shade a small tree was providing me I would call it a
day. The M-6 gave me a high tone in the penny dime range and in the 90's vdi. I was in a bit
of a rush so when I pinpointed it, the depth reading was 9". I had a quick thought to forget
about it and head in. I had a short walk to get to the house and figured I would do a quick
dig. I cut a flap about 6" deep and checked it. Still in the hole. I grabbed my pinpointer and
started probing the bottom. No signal. I scan the hole again and a clear repeatable high tone
was heard. I took my trowel and slid it down the sides of the hole 3-4" and loosened the
soil. The first time I stuck the pinpointer in the bottom of the hole it sounded off. So
carefully I brushed the dirt away and see a glint of silver. I thought it might be silver as
I found a 1923 merc a few days ago but it was only at 5 ". I pulled it out and with out
brushing the dirt off I went to put it in a film container which wasn't in my pouch. So I
put in my shirt pocket and thought to myself, "I better keep a eye on that". I dug a signal
and watched it fall out!! Picked it up and back in the same pocket again!! And did that one
more time!!! Got back to the house and threw the pennies and it in a glass of water. After
I cooled down, I started to rinse them off and looked to see if they were wheaties or not. Well when
I got to the dime I didn't even wipe it off. I just ran it under the faucet. I did't have my
glasses so I called my daughter and ask if I can borrow her eyes. I say "can you read this" and
figured it's a rosie but hopefully a merc. She look and says it says one dime on it. I then
asked what year and she replies 1899!! I'm shocked and say "ARE YOU SURE??? So here it is...
