My MXT and 1400 Deep Scan in gold country California proved to be a great combination! The more I use my MXT the more I like it. I am amazed by it's ability and accuracy even on deep items. Last week I had a chance to make a trip out to an area between Yuba City and Lake Oroville, know to produce nice gold nuggets, I decided to take my MXT and 1400 Deep Scan Coil.

At first I found a few shot gun shells and a few 22 cal bullets thinking they were gold. After about an hour and not finding much, I decided to check out an area where there may have been a seasonal creek. After about 10 minutes of hunting the dried up creek I got a signal and out came a 1914 Barber dime, then another few feet away a solid VDI +84, a 1926 Standing Liberty quarter.

I moved to an area with some large rocks by the creek and I got a nice little zip sound where I found this really nice little nugget. ½” deep. The 1400 Deep Scan is really sensitive to small items for its size. I ended up finding some more coins around the rocks before mvoing on to the other side of the creek. I wondered away from the creek after about 30 minutes of not finding much and I found myself in the middle of a grassy field. I got a really nice signal which I thought was a bullet, so I checked the depth and it said 8".

I began digging but had some trouble finding this item, so I used my Bullseye II and still had trouble finding it. I started to grab handfuls of dirt and waived it by my coil, by the 3rd or 4th hand full I got it! All I saw was a gold necklace and a nice shade of gold and about 1/3 of an ounce nugget on a rope chain. This had got to be my coolest find so far with my MXT!!

All I can say is the MXT = a fund day detecting. I took the nugget and chain to my local jewler and he thinks the rope chain dates back to the earlier 1920's. How did it get there, how long ago was it lost, and who might hav owned it, I will never know but I can always wonder. That is what makes this hobby so great! Thank you Whites you're the best!
