Dear White's, When I was 10 years old I was in the front yard of my parents home (where they have lived for 58 years now) I had a half dollar and was throwing it into the air, watch were it landed, pick it and throw it again. I decided to throw it as high as I could and in doing so I lost track of it. When it landed I could not find it and assumed it must have sliced into the ground and was below the grass. I knew about where it landed but was never able to see it. I have been interested in metal detecting for some time now but have only recently purchased a DFX. Needless to say, I knew that if I ever purchased a MD I would go to the old home place and try to find the coin that I lost. The first week I took the DFX 90 miles to the place where I grew up. Mom and Dad were both there and came out to watch the hunt along with my Granddaughter. I marked a spot that I thought the coin might be and started to hunt. Right off I got a signal, dug and found a penny. I continued for about 20 feet and had a signal showing 50 cents. I dug the plug and sure enough there was the coin that I had lost 46 years ago. It was about 4 inches deep and in a vertical position. So far this has been my "best find" and it will take something really special to top it for me. It was a great experience to find the coin that I had lost 46 years earlier. Best Regards, Tommy |
