Dear White’s,

We received a call last night from a person who had lost a $5.00 gold coin in the grass in their back yard. We went over to their house this morning at 10:00am to look for the lost coin. I started with the DFX, but didn't have the 4X6 coil on it. The lawn was very trashy and I told my fiancée Merilyn that I was going back to the van to get the 4X6 coil.

When I returned, she just said - "never mind, I got it". In the time it took me to walk around the house, open the van, get the coil and return, Merilyn had made several sweeps with the DFX, got a solid "50" VDI with the stock 950 coil, investigated, and picked up the $5.00 gold piece.

Needless to say the owner was pleased and so were we. I've attached a picture of Merilyn returning the coin. (The owner asked that we not include his face or his house in the photo, as he has other valuables inside as well.) Our little digital camera that we keep in the van just for such occasions doesn't do close-ups well.

The owner said he'd take a picture of the coin and send it to us. Congratulations to Merilyn on a great job!!! She's only been at the hobby since August. Now you can see why she beats me so often when we're out hunting. She's a "natural" at detecting. I'm very happy for Merilyn and very proud of her. She has asked lots of questions, read her User Guide and other books over and over and most of all practiced hard.
