Dear White’s Electronics,

I found another belt plate, it's an 1850's militia pressed brass plate, use through the Civil War.

I was detecting an old house site. I didn't have my small coil with me, so I moved away from the solid blanket of trash to where the backyard might have been. I was disappointed in the number of mangled cans, they were giving real good signals, but disappointing to dig. Then the XLT gave another good "can" reading, VDI 89. I cut a plug, turned it over, and said to myself "Rats, another can... hmmm, this one looks like it’s got an eagle on it... hey that isn’t a can, that's a bent Civil War belt plate!"

After taking a picture of it in the ground, I pulled it out and examined it. It had been hit by a plow and nearly bent into a U shape, giving it that "can" look, but it is all there; even the attachments on the back are intact.
