Dear White’s,

When I first got my DFX a while back I wrote to tell you how amazed I was at the performance of the machine. I had found my oldest coin ever, an 1809 half cent. Well I wanted to write again to tell you it gets even better. May has been my best month of detecting ever!

The month started off with a visit to a town that was established in the 1870’s, and faded away sometime in the early 20th century. I was hoping to find some Indian Head Pennies and hopefully some silver Barber coins or Seated coins. About 25 feet from my car I got a good 88 VDI reading. I was expecting to find junk, but dug a beautiful 1942 Walking Liberty Half Dollar. After that I was finding only trash for quite some time. I decided to check out a wooded area with a small path. I immediately was greeted with a nice penny reading at about 6.5 inches. With a 79 VDI, I was thinking it must be an old Wheat Cent. After digging an 8 inch plug, I realized my target was still in the hole. Now I knew it was something good, but I was very surprised to find an 1801 Draped Bust Cent!

About 2 weeks went by before I had time to detect again. I decided to take my DFX to the site I dug the 1809 Half Cent and more than 20 old buttons. I passed the field where I made these finds and decided to work a wooded area that was also once a farm field. On the way to the field I found a few modern coins, a 1999 nickel and a 2005 dime. As soon as I hit the woods I got a nice 79 VDI and about 7 inches down was a nice large copper coin. A little while later I got a strong 83 VDI and out popped my second copper. Some time passed and I dug a few more buttons and then I got a lower 65 VDI. I was thinking Indian Head, but out came my third large copper coin of the day! After getting home and carefully cleaning my finds, I realized what I had found. An 1839 “Booby Head” Large Cent, a 1787 Connecticut Copper, and my oldest coin, a well worn William III Halfpenny dated 1699! Five coins spanning Five Centuries!!!!

Thanks to the DFX this was my best month of metal detecting ever!

Thanks White’s!
