Hello White's, My name is Jason Polo, proud owner of a DFX 300, here in Southern New Jersey. On Thursday, April 9, 2009 I was hunting a local closed down swimming hole near my hometown when I made a fantastic discovery. Coming in at a 48 VDI and at 9" deep, out comes a 1960 Williamstown High School Class Ring!! My first personalized item able to be returned to its rightful owner, and exactly what I've been waiting to find since I started metal detecting back in 2007. The ring was too small to even fit my pinky finger, so I assumed it must be a woman's ring. It had the initials PAD inside the band, as well as a 10K marking. Well being Easter weekend, no one was available at the HS the ring came from, so I contacted my local county newspaper and they jumped at the chance to run the story of this little ring, in hopes of bringing its rightful owner forward. So after an interview and a few pictures of myself and the ring, off they went to write the article. The article was set to release on Tuesday of the following week. On Monday I received a call from the Williamstown Board of Education in regards to the message I left them about the ring and wanting to locate its owner. They were nice enough to set off on the pursuit through old records to find its owner. Well at approximately 10AM on Tuesday, the day the paper was issued (I made front page), the owner contacted me. Her name is Peggy Anne Deccio (PAD) and she informed me she had lost the ring only 2 months after purchasing it!!! So we arranged for a meeting, and informed the newspaper of our intentions so they could be there for the follow up story. Well at 12PM the same day, I received a call from our local Philadelphia area news station NBC 10!!! They too wanted to run the story on both the 6PM news and the 11PM news!! I was stoked!! So after being interviewed at home for the news and it airing live at 6:15PM, we proceeded to Peggy's home and I was able to finally return it to its rightful owner after being lost in the lake for 49 years! I've included a link for the newscast, which is available for online viewing and also included a picture of the article first issued and a link to the papers website for the full article. Thanks for listening!! I love White's and especially love my DFX300!! It's produced a load of valuables and this wonderful story which I'll never forget for sure... The DFX300 made me famous in my area for 2 days, and people here notice me wherever I go now. I'm a local celebrity! http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/Woman_Reunited_with_Lost_Ring_Half-Century_Later_Philadelphia.html - The news story http://www.nj.com/gloucester/index.ssf?/base/news-4/1239775818292410.xml&coll=8 - The newspaper article One proud and happy White's owner, |
