A Happy Ending Tail

Since we sell White's Electronics metal detectors here in our Cape Coral, FL hardware store, we receive quite a few requests for assistance to find lost valuables.

 

We will help if the person is willing to make a check donation to the Cape Coral Police Departments Do The Right Thing Program which rewards area youth for doing the right thing.

We were recently contacted to search a yard for a lost gold ring with diamonds. The volunteer searcher slowly and methodically swept the area in which the ring was thought to have been lost with his DFX. The ring was not to be found.

The volunteer decided to expand the search area. As he started, he swept the DFX coil near the family pet to encourage the dog to move out of his way. When making that pass, he got a nice "gold tone" and VDI number in the high 20's. After the dog moved out of the way, the signal disappeared from where the dog was laying.

He asked if the owner would hold the dog still while we scanned the dog's stomach with the DFX. No signal at the stomach but he did get the same "good gold" repeatable signal near the dog's tail.

It was suggested the owner now exercise the dog by having the dog retrieve a thrown toy. After a couple throws, the dog "dropped" the ring (.... if you get my drift ) in the yard. One more DFX sweep over the "drop" site confirmed the ring was now recoverable ... by the owner.

A $50 check donation was received for our assistance. A truly happy ending to a treasure hunting tale resulting from a messy situation!
