Hello White’s, I recently joined the local detecting club here in Paradise , Ca. called the Paradise Ridge Diggers. My son and I have attended two meetings and our second outing with the club. They held a coin shoot on February 8, 2009 and this would be a first coin shoot for me in my detecting career. I detect everyday for an hour or so weather permitting and any chance I get to enjoy this great hobby with others. I have my DFX and a brand new 10” D2 coil I bought from a local dealer Roper’s Detectors in Marysville, Ca.. I have been really enjoying the power and smoothness of the new coil over the stock 950 here in Northern Ca. soils. I did not hesitate to use it for the coin shoot. I run the preset (coin/jewelry) program and I hit it hard. 3 hour hunt I pulled over 50 coins and won both 1st and 2nd place prizes in the end for most coins dug and the most points total. I pulled a lot of the club coins that had been planted down around 4 inches but I also recovered some old nickels and wheat cents that where in the ground already at depths of 8 to 10 inches. I was the only one to get a bunch of deep coins aside from another fellow running an MXT. Just shows you the power of the DFX and MXT to get deep coins. I had a blast and won a 1921 silver dollar for first prize and a medieval Spain coin from 1379-1390 for second place. I owe this to the smooth power of the new D2 in combo with my DFX. I have never had so much fun! I have enclosed some pictures of the hunt and my prizes. I will be having another first later this week as I am going to a family reunion in Southern Ca. where I will spend some time detecting the beach and surf with an original White’s Surfmaster. Old but good! I can’t wait maybe we I will have another great adventure to share like the coin shoot last weekend! Thanks White’s for a great machine and coil. |
