Hello,

I thought I would share with you, the story of my first time out with my new White's M6 Matrix.

I received my M6 on Feb. 11, 2009, and after a little practice in the back yard, I was able to take it out in the field on Feb. 14. Through an internet forum I met a fellow MDing buddy and we set out to a school under renovation in Boulder, CO. Upon arriving at the school our hope waned after seeing the fence with "No Trespassing" signs surrounding the school, sending us up the street to turn around. After taking the first left turn onto a side street, we noticed a home lot with the house recently scraped off it, so we decided to hunt it.

After about ten minutes of scanning the front yard, I moved to where the garage used to be. My M6 guided me to the back yard, where I found a 1982 memorial penny. Then, about ten feet later... SILVER! The VDI said +90, three inches down. Sure enough, about three inches down, a silver coin showed in the hole. I picked the coin up, wiped the dirt off and a 1954 Franklin Half Dollar was in the palm of my hand! Wow!

My friend was more excited than I was because he has been doing this for eight years, and he had never found a half dollar (until the next coincidentally).

It's really ironic that my first real hunt was almost identical to the M6 instructional video with Greg Messini in Golden Gate Park. In it, Greg finds his first coin, a penny, then later on he finds a 1960 Franklin Half Dollar. That was pretty special for me, and a great introduction to the hobby!
