An old Navy buddy of mine heard his neighbor had lost a valuable diamond ring in her yard. He volunteered my services. I finally drove the 3 hours to visit him over the weekend.

The ring had been lost for a month or two at that point. The ring's owner, Amy was devastated by the loss. After about 30 minutes I found it. And I made $0.33 doing it too.  (3 dimes and a few pennies)

This is my first gold ring, and my first diamond ring. It is valued at over $5,000(US). It was still covered with dirt from when the pictures were taken. Amy was very very happy! Both she and her husband were amazed that I found it.

I have learned that when somebody says "I dropped it right there" multiply that area by about 4 and sweep it all. The ring appears to have rolled down the driveway and then taken a hard right into the yard. It was only about 6 inches from the edge into the yard.

It made my whole weekend to see her big smile when she got the ring back. I am still pretty darn happy about the find myself! I saw the ring after she had it cleaned up. WOW! It is absolutely beautiful! That thing has diamonds all over it!

My Spectra V3 with the small coil worked perfectly in this situation. I had to get around some bushes and in some tight spaces. Since I knew it would not be a deep target, a small coil made sense, and the yard was not that big. My detecting buddies have all said my karma has taken a big boost.
