White's Electronics,

In March of 2009 we had just gotten back from vacation in Florida where I had reunited a woman with her lost ring. A week after we got home I went detecting in a downtown park. I had been detecting for a couple of hours when I noticed my battery was low. As I walked back to my car to get the spare a woman came up to me and asked if that was a metal detector. I held out my XLT and said "Yes this is one of the best ones." She then proceeded to ask if I could attempt to find her girlfriends wedding ring. I told her sure that I would give it a shot.

She filled me in on the details. They had taken the kids to a small park to play. The woman sat on a bench with her bag of goodies. She got out the sun screen for the kids and took off her ring and placed it on top of the bag so it wouldn't get full of the sun screen. After a bit the girlfriend said let's get something to drink so she grabbed her bag and went to the car. The only thing was that she had forgotten about her ring. It had fallen into the wood chips. She didn't realize this until they were ready to go home. They looked for an hour but could not find it.

It was the next day that I was approached by her girlfriend. She gave me directions to the park and her phone number. I continued to my car since I needed to replace my battery. When I got to the car I thought maybe I should just go to that park now before someone else finds the ring so off I went. When I got there I surveyed the situation. The play area was about 100 feet by 50 feet in an oval shape. I decided to start on the outer edge a work completely around then move in a couple of steps and repeat. I made one complete circuit and was on my second one near the end when I got the sweet tone. I got down on my knees and used my Bullseye pinpointer to gently stir around the chips. I got that nice buzz and gently dug into the chips until I got the ring.

I went home and called the woman that had given me her number and told her to have her girlfriend call me. It took a couple of days to connect but finally we connected. When she came to the house I showed her the ring and her face lit up in a huge smile. She was one happy lucky lady.
