White's Electronics,
While working the front yard area of a pre 1850's house with my nephew, I got a VDI reading of +30 (Ring, Pull Tab) which we normally do not dig, but this one was reading at a depth of 7 inches. The ground around this house has a lot of sand mixed in with it and normally the pull tabs that we dug previously were at a depth of 3-4 inches. When we dug down to around 6 inches we got a buzz with the pinpointer. We dug another inch and out popped the ring. The ring is a Capt. Hawks Sky Patrol Brass toy ring, it was a Post Cereal mail in offer on the boxes of cereal in 1936. Capt. Hawks was a World War I flying ace. This ring cleaned up very nice with little to no damage. I was using the standard 950 coil on the DFX and the coin and Jewelry Program with the Preamp setting of 3 and AC Sensitivity setting of 80. We have found many old wheats on this site, but this was the best find so far. David (OH) |
