Hello White’s,
My name is Tim, and I live in a small town in South Alabama that dates back to the 1800's. I purchased my first White’s metal detector from a fellow White's metal detectorist I met thru the White's Metal Detecting Forum.
My detector is an IDX Pro with the standard 9.5 coil. Now for the story, I received permission to hunt an old drive in theater just outside of my home town. This Drive-in was opened in the 40's and continued to operate until around 1975. I spoke with the owner who told me that her father had built the drive-in to give the hard working country folks something to do on Saturday nights.
Money was real tight back then and a lot of the boys were returning home from the war in Europe and the Pacific. Admission was $3.00 per vehicle. She laughed at this point, fondly remembering those easier times, saying that the folks would "Load up the trucks" with anyone that wanted to go!
Anyway she told me to be sure and check around the area were the big screen had been, because they had built some swings, merry-go-round, and see-saws for the kids to play on during the movie. I hunted this area first and never made it any farther! I found 44 Lincoln pennies, 4 wheat pennies, 33 dimes, 2 Quarters, 1 Half dollar, 3 nickels, 2 silver rings; one of which was 6 inches down, and 1 1937 Buffalo nickel! This was in just one afternoon!
All I can say is “Thanks, White's for making the BEST metal detectors!!!
Tim
