I bought my Beach Hunter I.D. last summer and have found many things with it, but on July 28th I had a big surprise coming to me. I found 2 diamond rings in the same spot in a local swimming hole. I was about waist deep in water and I got a real nice medium beep from my Beach Hunter so I scooped up on the first try with my sand scoop a beautiful what looked like a white gold engagement ring, I couldn't really tell for sure so I stuck it in my pouch, by this time I was pretty excited and put my coil back down there in the same spot and got another great medium beep and scooped out on the third try and pulled up a band with a bunch of small stones in it, by this time I was really really excited, after that I didn't detect very long wondering if these rings were the real McCoy so I packed up and headed home, cleaned all my finds, got out my eyeloop and checked the markings on the inside and they were both 14k and looked like a matched set to me, so I quick posted pics and a story on Whites Metal detecting forum, and headed for the gemologist and he confirmed they were a matched set and probably sold new for between 5 and 6 hundred dollars. I'll tuck both these rings away for my future trip to Alaska to hunt for nuggets with my MXT. I'll be flying high for a long time after these finds. I've always owned Whites metal detector's since 1989 and the Beach Hunter I.D. came through for me on that day.

I wanted to share a Success Story with you that is very deserving of a mention.

With my previous trips to England while detecting Ancient Coins/Artifacts and digging up pounds of Gold Nuggets at Ganes Greek, AK, I already knew my White's MXT was my #1 detector of choice. So when I heard of the new 12" Super Coil, I realized I had to have one for my next Gold Nugget Hunt.

The coil arrived 2 weeks before my trip and after a quick overview it seemed to be just what I hoped for. A light weight coil that I could swing 8 hours a day and not have my arm fall off. Another added edge is, this coil has approx 30% more Depth and Ground Coverage per sweep and that is exactly what I wanted for Ganes Creek, Alaska and the Trophy Gold Nuggets that are buried beneath. The extra depth and ground coverage is what I hoped would give me the added advantage and edge over the other detectorists at Ganes.

The attached photos show proof of my Success with the White's MXT equipped with a 12" Super Coil. I found 22 nuggets of various sizes and depths. Large, Medium and Small, the 12" Super Coil covered more ground, got more depth and responded to all. I found a couple small rice grain size nuggets of .2 gram, including a few 3/4 oz'ers and even a 1+ oz'er. The depths of some of these beautiful rare and collectible gold nuggets were more than I can imagine. One particular nice nugget was 16" to 18" deep. I have been detecting for over 30 years and can tell you this. Most detectors on the market today would not have found that 1+ oz Trophy Gold Nugget as deep as it was.

My prize of the trip was a vary rare and collectible nugget unlike most in that area. A Once in Lifetime Trophy Specimen Nugget just shy of 2 pounds. As you can see in the photos, it is a gorgeous reddish agate quartz with lines, veins and speckles of yellow gold throughout. The total weight of this museum quality piece is just under 2 pounds. I have showed this rare piece of Natural Beauty to a few Gem/Mineral Collectors and others to get an idea of its value. The price varies some as expected, but a range of $15,000 to $25,000 makes it a true, Once in Lifetime Find for me.

Thanks White's for making such a quality true multi purpose detector (MXT) and backing it up with a top of the line Super Light 12" coil. As the proof in the photos show, this detector/coil combination certainly gave me the advantage and edge to take home the gold.

My DFX continues to amaze me! I was hunting an old fairgrounds July 4th that has been hunted heavily to say the least. The day first produced 2 Indian Head Pennies but it appeared that was going to be it for the day so I headed for the car. On the way to the car I get a nice solid quarter hit at 6 inches I checked from a different angle since there was a lot of aluminum, nails and other iron in the general area. Again a solid quarter tone and icon. I decide this was the end of the day so what did I have to lose. I dug down about 4 inches and out pops an old rusty nail so I stand up and re-sweep the hole, you guessed it the DFX said Quarter, Quarter, Quarter so I dug down a couple more inches and there she was! I pulled her out and there was another nail under her. Notice the rust stains on both sides. Surrounded by nails that had indeed fooled many detectors before, but not the DFX! White's you have created a great detector and this coin proves it. I can not wait to get back out!

Last August my wife and I went to Beaver Lake for a couple of days. Our youngest boy, his family and our oldest boy joined us. With everybody there it was a quick couple of days. I had high hopes of metal detecting some of the swimming areas since the lake was eight feet low. I threw in my White's XLT. The last day I finally got everybody up and loaded on the boat. We went to a swimming beach where I thought they could swim and I could look for lost treasure. I looked for ten to fifteen minutes and found a 10k gold ring with three small diamonds. I went over to the boat to show my wife thinking this is going to be great. Went back to pick-up where I left off. looked up and everybody was swimming back to the boat giving me the lets go sign. They decided they would rather play on boat toys. Oh well, at least I found something. Here's a picture. I would like to say thanks to White's for building a great metal detector. love my XLT.

Teaching Kids About Tecting!

I bought an M6 about 3 months ago (from Greg at Trans Bay Metal Detectors), and shortly after, used my coil coupon to get a Super 12. Fantastic combination! I find the Super 12 gives a much stronger signal on all targets, even shallow ones. On July 5th I got permission to hunt the fireworks on our local museum grounds. It's been the fireworks site for about 18 years, and I believe I am the first person to ever ask to hunt it, from the results I got. In 4 days, I turned up 320 coins, including 117 quarters, 65 dimes, 25 nickels, 113 pennies, and 2 rings, and I've got less than half of the grounds covered so far. Nearly all targets were 3-5 inches deep. Just a few on top from this year's fireworks.

The museum has a Kids Day Program. On my 3rd day on the site, a group of kids and the teacher stopped for an activity on the lawn. So I took the opportunity and asked if they'd like to see a demo. They got real excited and had tons of questions. I had a good quarter hit just seconds after starting, and they gathered all around as I pulled 2 quarters out of the same hole. They went nuts! Then the teacher told me they were doing a class the next week on (get this) treasure hunting! She asked me to come back and give a talk.

The day came and I spoke to a small class of kids. I told them some treasure stories, showed them how the M6 worked, and together we found at least 40 coins. I also let them use my M6 to find their own coins, pinpoint and recover. Then let them keep those coins. They said they'd keep them forever. Two of the girls said this was the single best day of their entire lives. I literally had to choke back some tears. I left and came back about 5pm to take some pictures. They were still there and had made thank you cards for me.

Oh, and here's another twist. On the day with the kids, I went early to hunt the museum lawn with a friend of mine from church who has a (can I say it, Bounty Hunter). I had been telling him about all the quarters there. We spent some time checking each other's targets to compare detectors. Then checked each others pouches. Long story short, the next day he ordered an M6 and all the accessories from my dealer. HA! Another convert!!

All in all, it was my single most rewarding day of detecting to date! The picture of the girls really says it all!
