Dear White’s Electronics,

A friend told me about a possible lost ring at a local park, he stated that he saw several people searching, one with a metal detector, but he never heard anyone cheer like they found what they were looking for. I filed the story away for a couple of months and then one afternoon I had some free time to go check. I had my friend draw me a map of where he saw the crowd looking to make sure I was in the right area.

I didn’t have a lot of hope because I know if I had searched for a lost ring and not found it I would have been back until I got it and who knew, maybe someone just found it laying on the ground and had already picked it up. I had 3 hours to give it a try with my Whites Spectrum XLT. If I failed at least I got out of work early and got a few hours of detecting in on a beautiful day.

I searched a grid pattern over where the map indicated and got just a few pieces of aluminum, whoever was here before didn’t leave anything to chance – they had dug everything and this place was clean! After an hour and a half I had searched the ‘prime’ area and began to expand my search when I started to get some signals. One very questionable signal which I almost skipped turned out to be a 24” Sterling Silver necklace! At least the day was not a total loss at this point.

I was getting very close to being done as I’d extended my search out about 12-15 feet on 3 of the 4 sides and was on the 4th side of the suspected ‘ring zone’ when I got a very clear bottle cap signal that pinpointed at 0.5”. I looked down and could see the outline of a ring on the surface, bingo! I picked up the ring and could not believe what I saw, 29 diamonds in the setting with a quarter carat marquee! The ring appraised at over $2,100 and needless to say my wife is much easier to convince to let me out of the house to go detecting now.

The real twist to the whole story is that when I took it to work to show my friend who gave me the lead, he looked at me and said ‘”You found this at the park?! Let me tell you the whole story now, see, I overheard two guys walking by and one told the other ‘I can’t believe I lost my wedding ring, my wife is going to kill me.’” The lead I was given was for a man’s wedding band! I’m heading back to the park again and hopefully I’ll have another story to share of another great find with a White’s detector soon.

  Whites Electronics,

I have been detecting for over 35 years, and only have had about a dozen detectors, but have had the greatest service, and best finds from the 6 White's detectors, I have owned. Presently I have 3 detectors, a White's Coinmaster Classic III, an IDX, and I bought a new M6, with an extra 5.3 Eclipse coil in January of this year.

Since I have bought my M6, I have found my oldest coin with it, a 1875 Seated half and also a 1914 Barber quarter.(Pictured in the June 2007 stories) They were found in an old WW1 training camp. The 3 Barber dimes pictured here were found in the old camp that had over 30,000 soldiers go through it, in 1917-1919. When I first started detecting years ago, I was told by a few "seasoned metal detector users", that this area was a "hunted out" area and no more old coins were to be found.

I dug the 1899 Barber Dime, and the 1907 Barber Dime in the middle of November 2007, and the 1903 Barber Dime, was dug a few months ago, in the same area. Those "seasoned detector users" must not have been using White's detectors, back then.

Your detectors are of the highest quality and they get the job done!!!!!!!!!!

  White’s,

I spoke with my dealer about registering my White’s XLT E-series warranty with you guys. Anyways, after speaking with the dealer I decided to take my new XLT out in the front yard and give it a whirl. I setup the detector with the standard coins/jewelry preset program, and started hunting.

The first signal I got game a varied response on the VDI meter and a flash between bottle cap and zinc penny, and showed a depth of 4.5”. I dug the target, and it was a piece of “pot” metal, the type used in sprinklers.

Then I continued on with my search and a few feet away I got a solid quarter signal. I pinpointed it at 3” and at 3” (White’s always has the best and most accurate depth indication) out popped an old tarnished 1974 Washington quarter. I reburied the quarter (I’ll add it to a map of items in the front yard for later and future testing) in the same spot, and started swinging the coil again.

This time I got a solid 15 on the VDI scale, and a solid foil/ring icon indication, decided to pinpoint it and the meter showed a depth of 1.5 inches. I learned a long time ago that single bars on the singnagrph is a good indication, so I dug carefully.

I popped my divot out and waved it over the coil, and got a solid signal. At that time I noticed a small metallic spot in the soil, and brushed it away to reveal this very nice and heavy men’s 14K diamond ring!

I cleaned it up a bit for the pictures with a toothbrush, it weighed a bit over 1/3rd troy ounce on my digital scale. The center diamond is a ½ ct. on each side of that one sits a 1/3rd carat, and on the each side of those sits a 1/4th carat, for a total of 5 diamonds.

This is my best jewelry find to date this year, thanks to White’s and the XLT!

Dear White’s,

How many times have I heard research, research, research? Well it finally paid off!!! I was told by a farmer about an old road that used to go through his property. The old road is about three miles long on which two other farms had been. The road itself is overgrown with trees and shrubs closing in.

Nothing left of the farms but foundations now with the fields overgrown. I saw an old family cemetery on this road with just one headstone left standing. It was hard metal detecting because it is all the overgrowth. I found tools, scrap metal, a crotal bell and broken glass in what must have been the barn.

Then I started to check out the cellar hole, that’s where my luck and research paid off. I found in the soil several coins under a small flat rock about 5 inches down, the soil was rust colored from the remnants of a metal container. I have included pictures of the two best coins I found. I'll be doing a lot of research these cold snowy winters here in Maine. Research can pay off!!!!

Good People at White’s,

Well I have to say guys and gals that today will go down in my record books as the most heart stopping, body shaking and my legs couldn’t stop dancing. I’m still on cloud nine trying to tell all of you what happened in my day!

I started out by “Google Earthling” my area and came across a small little park that I had hunted probably more than a year ago, so I headed out to see if I could use the program that angel had posted the other day which by the way it work very well for me and my XLT . It seemed as though no one had ever touch this park sense the last time I had be there, Just in the volleyball court I found a ton of clad and a silver ring and two junk rings the first clad picture is the amount of clad found in just one half of the sand.

I've got to stop rambling and just get to it, I started working an area behind the a baseball field which has a nice slope which runs all around the field ,I thought to myself I bet all the kids just love rolling down the nice green grass so that's where I decided to hunt. It also looked as though parents may have sat there under the trees to watch their kids play ball.

I was working about two feet up from the base of the slope when I get a really good tone, thinking it will be another nickel I pop my plug put my White’s pinpointer in about two or three inches and bingo that beautiful sound we always love to hear!

I reach in with two fingers and out pops not one but two gold rings with diamonds, rubies and emeralds! Well you all can imagine what my heart was doing, well as always after I find something I always check my plug again and what happens?

Another perfect tone another gold ring pops out like they were screaming to be found. Well after I calmed down I had enough, so I pack it in and went straight to a local jeweler to see what I had really found, Two 10k rings and one 14k and all the stones are authentic I'm done spent and tired of typing my excitement so here's a few picture's.

Thanks,

Brad from Southern Nevada

P.S. I love my XLT!
